Romeo and Juliet

For this project, I was challenged to re-imagine a hardcover and a paperback cover design for a classic book. I chose Romeo and Juliet for my project. The hardcover is a luxury and intricate design including contrasting symbolism of life and death portrayed by the dagger and rose. The decorative pillars are a reflection of the time period the book takes place in, which is the 14th century Italian Renaissance.

The paperback includes an early depiction of Romeo and Juliet framed within a Gothic arch that was commonly found during the time of Shakespeare. The paper texture represents the letters used to communicate within the book.
